Licensed Psychologist

Hello there! My name is Dr. Beth Prittie. I know the process of seeking out psychological services can be a daunting one, and hope by learning a little about me, this will help you in your process.

Educationally, I received my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from KU (Rock Chalk Jayhawk!) and my Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Washburn University. Over the eight years I spent in schooling, I trained at Children’s Mercy Hospital (specializing in neuropsychological assessment), KU’s Psychological Services Center, Osawatomie State Hospital, and at Responsive Centers. I have also taught a variety of college courses, and served as an Adjunct Professor at Washburn University teaching child assessment. I currently supervise students and other practitioners and feel teaching is one of the best ways to keep growing as a psychologist!

Currently, my work focuses within psychological assessment, specializing in evaluation of children and adolescents (though I also

work with adults). I have formal training in learning disabilities and learning exceptionalities (i.e., giftedness), attention/executive functioning challenges (i.e., ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder, in addition to mood/anxiety disorders. I view the evaluation process as one of the most critical steps in helping someone grow! I am also deeply passionate about serving those from diverse cultural backgrounds, and ensure I incorporate and respect cultural differences in my work.

When I am not working with the Meadowlark Center team, I spend most of my time with my twin daughters and husband. I love that as a parent, I can approach my clinical work understanding the parenting role! I enjoy being a working-mom, and appreciate the care it takes to balance a life with many roles. I am a Lego-enthusiast and firmly believe we all need to keep our inner child alive and thriving. I can talk video games all day with the children I work with (gamer for life!), and love all things Star Wars. My favorite movie is The Wizard of Oz, which fits me well as I have been a Kansan for nearly all my life.

It is important that each family feels understood and supported and hope that by learning about myself, you gain the confidence you need to take the first step down what can feel like a challenging path.

My friends, family, and colleagues have always described me as a “kid person.” I believe engaging with children is the key to eternal youth. I have spent the majority of my training specializing in comprehensive psychological evaluations and therapeutic services for children and adolescents. My evaluations focus on neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g., Autism, ADHD, Intellectual/Learning Disabilities), mood/anxiety disorders, and general development. While I am passionate about evaluations, I also provide therapeutic services to a limited number of patients utilizing a Cognitive Behavioral Approach, primarily focused on anxiety disorders. Educationally, I am a proud Jayhawk and Ichabod! I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Kansas, and my Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Washburn University. experiences include working with children at the Edna A. Hill Child Development Center in Lawrence, Kansas, serving the community of Topeka, Kansas at the Washburn Psychological Services Clinic, providing care to patients in a psychiatric hospital setting at KVC Prairie Ridge in Kansas City, Kansas and at Responsive Centers for Psychology and Learning in Overland Park, Kansas completing psychological evaluations and individual therapy.

I have known I wanted to pursue a career in psychology from an early age, and have embarked on this journey with one of my favorite quotes in mind. “Find your passion. It is absolutely essential you find a way to obtain a level of satisfaction from your work as you do from your free time. To live for the weekend is, after all, to waste 71.43% of your life.” – Beau Taplin. Outside of my time at the Meadowlark Center, you can find me paddle boarding, with my pitbull Tank, or with friends on a patio trying out a new restaurant! I take great pride in my working relationship with each individual and family I meet and hope you reach out to me if my mission aligns with yours!

Prior to joining the clinical setting, I served as a school psychologist in Blue Valley Schools where I supported students’ social, emotional, behavioral, and academic needs. Now in the clinical setting, I use this experience to continue supporting students and their families. I specialize in the assessment and diagnosis of learning disabilities (including dyslexia and dysgraphia), giftedness, ADHD, mood/anxiety disorders, and other concerns related to learning. I have extensive experience in the assessment of dyslexia and have attended and presented at the International Dyslexia Association Conferences. Additionally, because I have seen firsthand how factors such as attention, anxiety, mood, and behavior can impact one’s learning, I provide comprehensive evaluations to assess for these challenges. My evaluations are tailored to help you better understand your child and provide meaningful recommendations to support your child at home and at school.

In addition to assessment, I also provide therapy and skill coaching to children, adolescents, and young adults. I utilize cognitive-behavioral therapy and behavioral therapy techniques to teach social, executive functioning, and coping skills to help individuals better manage their

and learning for children, adolescents, and adults.  Throughout my practice, I provide trauma-informed care and customize treatment to meet the specific needs of my patients.

I believe building strong relationships within the community is so important, especially when working with families. As the saying goes, “It takes a village to raise a child,” and I want to be an integral part of that village helping families in our community thrive.

When I am not at the Meadowlark Center, you can find me spending time with my family and our rambunctious dogs, jamming out to music, laughing at my favorite comedic podcasts, and exploring new recipes in the kitchen. My family and I are also avid sports fans rooting on our favorite (and sometimes opposing!) professional and collegiate teams.

"The Meadowlark team is not a black and white system, they are filled with compassion and hope, dedicated to helping families grow, heal, and
rise through challenges. My heart is forever grateful to the Meadowlark team.”
